Adrenaline Mob bassist killed in bus crash en route to concert in St. Petersburg
The bassist for New York metal band Adrenaline Mob was killed and other members and crew were injured when the group was involved in a major bus accident en route to a concert Friday in St. Petersburg.
David Zablidowsky, who also played for more than a dozen years in the Tampa-based Trans-Siberian Orchestra, died Friday afternoon when, according to the Gainesville Sun, a tractor trailer struck the band's RV and on Interstate 75 near Micanopy.
The band was pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate, police said, when the truck veered off the road and struck them. Nine people were involved in the crash, according to the Sun, including several band members.
Friends and former bandmates of Zablidowsky, known as David Z, confirmed the news on Twitter:

State Theatre general manager Kendra Marolf said she got a call mid-afternoon alerting her that the band had been involved in an accident with injuries, some critical; the show went on with only the planned local openers. A spokeswoman for Adrenaline Mob said the band would be issuing a statement next week.
Adrenaline Mob formed in 2011 and is a metal supergroup of sorts; its lineup has included members of Symphony X and Dream Theater. This is their second major accident as a band; in 2014 they were touring with Avenged Sevenfold when their van and gear were destroyed in a crash in New Hampshire.
Known for his glam-rock look and stage presence, Zablidowsky toured with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and SOTO, and also worked as a children's entertainer. He spent many years since 2000 with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the arena-filling classical rock outfit led by Paul O'Neill, who died this spring in Tampa. He and his brother Paulie formed the band ZO2, which starred in the IFC comedy Z-Rock.
"Dave was so very special to our family and our thoughts and prayers go out to Dave's family," Trans-Siberian Orchestra wrote on Facebook, "and all those affected by Friday's tragic accident."
The status of the other members of Adrenaline Mob has not been made public, although radio, TV and media personality Eddie Trunk wrote on his blog that he had received texts from singer Russell Allen and guitarist Mike Orlando, and they "seem to be somewhat okay."
Paulie Zablidowsky wrote on Facebook: "A piece of our hearts has been taken from us today and we are figuring out how to deal with this as a family. Please give us time and space to mourn and we will keep you posted when we can. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers."
