Tampa Bay Storm loses to Philadelphia Soul in ArenaBowl XXX

PHILADELPHIA — The Storm made a strong bid Saturday night for a league-record sixth ArenaBowl championship, but a familiar nemesis denied Tampa Bay.

The Storm lost 44-40 in ArenaBowl XXX at the Wells Fargo Center, falling for the fourth straight time to the Philadelphia Soul this season and dropping to 5-16 all time against the Soul.

The Storm (11-5, including playoffs), which made its 10th appearance in the title game, also dropped to 1-10 all time on the road against Philadelphia (15-1).

In their only other playoff meeting, Philadelphia defeated Tampa Bay 63-41 last season.

The Soul, which entered the league in 2004, won its third title.
